The kidbudget system is based on the timeless envelope system – only much cooler. It serves as a tool to allocate, track, and store money. Each component is highly integrated and teaches kids how to budget their money.
The main premise of the system is: You can buy something only when you have enough money to do so. If you don’t have the money, you don’t ask Mom or Dad for the shortfall, you simply save more money until you have enough.
This system also advocates savings – long and short term. It helps a child figure out how to do this and provides tools to do so. Of course there may be tradeoffs. Using the system will help to make informed decisions.
